雪铁龙汽车公司是法国第三大汽车公司,它创立于1915年,创始人是安德列·雪铁龙。主要产品是小客车和轻型载货车。雪铁龙公司总部设在法国巴黎。雇员总数为5万人左右,可年产汽车90万辆。
雪铁龙公司创立之初,正是第一次世界大战最酣之时,因而其产品主要是炮弹和军事设备。直到一战结束之后,公司才开始从事汽车制造活动。1934年生产出法国第一辆前轮驱动汽车。雪铁龙公司是法国最早采用流水线生产的公司,因而在它成立仅仅6年,年产量即突破100万辆。
在1924年和1931一1932年安德列·雪铁龙组织了雪铁龙汽车“亚洲之行”和“非洲之行”,又称“黄色旅行”和“黑色旅行”,使雪铁龙汽车名噪世界,销量也随之大增。1928年即达到日产汽车400辆,占法国汽车产量的1/3。
雪铁龙公司在1937年前后生产柴油机汽车,并提供2.5t以下的商用汽车。1967年买下贝利埃(Berliet),生产商用汽车,获得利润。
1970年菲亚特向雪铁龙投入30%的资本,但由于法国政府的干预,1973年菲亚特将全部股份抽出。雪铁龙在第一次石油危机后经营情况不佳,1974年成为标致的子公司,贝利埃则加入雷诺集团。
1975年,雪铁龙汽车公司年产量已达70万辆。
1976年雪铁龙公司加入标致集团,成为法国标致—雪铁龙集团成员之一,但它仍然有很大的独立性,其经营活动仍然由自己把握。雪铁龙公司有13个生产厂家和一个研究中心。其中阿尔内·色·布瓦是欧洲最先进的汽车厂。该厂采用计算机控制,机器人操作,可日产汽车900辆。近几年来,雪铁龙公司的产品有雪铁龙 AX、BX、CX系列,还有雪铁龙TDR等。
80年代末90年代初,它们又推出了雪铁龙ZX系列新车,其技术水平居世界领先地位。
1990年,ZX车成为欧洲最畅销的汽车,并在巴黎——达喀尔汽车拉力赛中获胜。1991年雪铁龙和中国二汽合资兴建神龙汽车公司,ZX车输人中国,全部建成投产后,年生产能力可达30万辆。
雪铁龙和普罗顿(Proton)有一个合资企业VSPD,在马来西亚生产轿车。

Men and women
Citroën’s 13,900 employees, 6,045 of whom work outside France, all contribute to the company’s results. In France, 1,785 people work at the head office and in central services, while a further 6,070 are involved in commercial activities outside head office. In 2005, Citroën hired 89 new managers for France.
Network
In France, Citroën has almost 346 sales outlets, more than 2,310 Citroën Authorised Repairers, 321 Official Spare Parts Distributors and 789 Eurocasion licensees. In Western Europe, the company is represented by 18 subsidiaries and 8 importers running a total of almost 1,761 sales outlets, around 4,269 Citroën Authorised Repairers and 1,159 Official Spare Parts Distributors. In the rest of the world, the network comprises 67 importers, 3 subsidiaries, 1 jointventure in China and more than 1,150 sales outlets.
